The Philadelphia Mummers Parade occurs every New Years Day, and is as much an institution of the city as the Liberty Bell, Rocky, and sports fanatics. It’s also in trouble and could use help! Please visit www.SaveTheMummers.com and plan on coming next year!
For those of you not from Philadelphia, the Mummers Parade can be summed up as a combination of San Francisco’s Bay to Breakers, New Orleans’ Mardi Gras and a good ole’ fashion marching band parade.

Join me for my first travel video in a series I hope to do over the next year as I embark on a 6 month around-the-world-trip. Before I set sail, I’ve been circling the US to see friends I haven’t seen in a while!
First up is Austin, Texas. I was there December 9th – 16th, and while I had been there once before, I saw the city with totally new eyes. It’s terribly charming, creative and inspiring. It’s also filling! You can’t eat enough food there!
For that reason, my mom says I’ll never be a skinny girl because this video was all about the food. Even the signage was about food!
Track: Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes
I started to put together my video on Austin yesterday. It should be my first “here’s what I see” in a series from my pending 6-month voyage. While I’m 75% finished with the more “reporter-like” video, I found myself compelled to set these bird shots to Bibio’s Weekend Wildfire. Once I started down that road, I ended up with this. It’s definitely experimental, but a friend of mine made a comment that I like quick transitions and short clips, so for this I slowed it down.
